April 27, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

April 27, 2016 – BICSI, the association advancing the information and communications technology (ICT) community, has partnered with InfoComm International to release an online course focusing on category cable and AV: “How to Install and Validate Category Cable for AV”.

The 10-hour course starts off with the basics of cabling, getting familiar with cable connectors and category cable terminology. It then moves into instruction on terminating and testing cables, cable linking and installation, and troubleshooting cables. The course also includes lessons on InfoComm’s new standard F501.01:2015 Cable Labeling for Audiovisual Systems as well as demonstration videos. Students will take photos or video of their termination and validation tests, which be reviewed by instructors.

“Knowledge of category cable is critical for ICT and AV professionals alike, and partnerships with other associations, like InfoComm, are vital to advance education and ensure information consistency across our industries,” said BICSI president Brian Ensign.

“We’re looking forward to partnering with BICSI on additional educational programs in the future,” added David Labuskes, executive director and CEO, InfoComm International.
