June 29, 2017* – At the National Academy of Construction’s annual meeting this fall, a collaborative workshop will be held between NAC and the IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Committee (Construction Subcommittee) with the aim of reducing electrical injuries and fatalities in the construction industry.

The Construction Subcommittee is chaired by EBMag “Electrical Safety 360” columnist Mike Doherty, who explains the U.S. construction industry accounts for 7% of the nation’s workforce, yet incurs more than 50% of workplace injuries and fatalities.

You’re invited to be among those safety leaders in attendance.

“We are, of course, encouraging participation from anyone—in particular, from the construction industry,” says Doherty.

Workshop organizers believe this performance can be significantly improved, adds Doherty, who says the workshop is the product of recent discussions at the IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Workshop held earlier this year.

The event will, for the first time, bring together senior executives in the construction industry and electrical safety leaders who have helped accelerate change reducing workplace electrical injuries and fatalities, says Doherty.

The 1.5-day workshop will be held in Washington, D.C., October 25-26, 2017, ahead of NAC’s annual meeting being held October 26-28. NAC’s membership includes CEOs and senior executive management of construction and affiliated companies in North America.
