Guillevin picks up WESCO’s legacy Canada Datacom business

February 13, 2021 | By Anthony Capkun

February 13, 2021* – WESCO International Inc. has sold its legacy WESCO Datacom business in Canada to Canadian distributor Guillevin International.

The transaction fulfils WESCO’s commitment to divest its legacy Canadian Utility and Datacom businesses in connection with its Consent Agreement with the Canadian Competition Bureau related to its merger with Anixter International, which closed in June 2020.

Today (February 15, 2021), Guillevin officially announced the creation of a new division—Guillevin Datacom—dedicated exclusively to network infrastructure products.

“We have targeted the WESCO business to launch our Datacom division because of the team’s agility, expertise and in-depth knowledge of products from the industry’s leading suppliers,” said Luc Rodier, Guillevin’s president & CEO. “This seasoned team will allow Guillevin to offer its clients a wide range of datacom solutions and to bid on leading projects in this attractive sector.”

Strategic points of sale will be established for the new Guillevin Datacom division in Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies and British Columbia.

“We will support our associates as they transition to Guillevin, and we wish them continued success,” said WESCO’s John Engel, chair, president CEO. “WESCO is committed to continuing to serve datacom customers in Canada, through the legacy business we acquired with Anixter.”

Roughly two weeks ago, Rexel acquired the Canadian Utility business of WESCO; again, in connection with the latter’s Consent Agreement with the Competition Bureau of Canada related to its merger with Anixter.
