Hamilton Utilities launches fiber telecom network downtown

March 6, 2014 – Hamilton Utilities Corp. (HUC) is deploying what a fiber optic data network “to meet the high-speed communication needs of businesses, offices and other organizations throughout Hamilton”.

“Today, every business and organization requires responsive, high-speed and reliable telecommunications, and that is exactly what we will deliver 24 hours a day,” said Alex Bystrin, president and CEO of the utility. “We are deploying next-generation network services infrastructure that is specifically tailored to the growing needs of commercial customers…”

Mayor Bob Bratina couldn’t be more pleased, as this will help “Hamilton to attract and retain the type of economic activity and investment that will lead to further growth and prosperity for many years to come”. Bratina is also an HUC director.

HUC is an infrastructure-based business with assets in electricity distribution (Horizon Utilities, serving Hamilton and St. Catharines), district energy systems based on cogeneration and geothermal technologies, as well as the operation of biogas generating plants.
