September 28, 2011 – Handheld Group, a supplier of rugged mobile computers, launched its Algiz XRW rugged notebook with a touchscreen. The XRW features a 10.1-in. widescreen with MaxView screen technology, which promises screen clarity and brightness in any outdoor condition—even direct sunlight. The 3.3-lb notebook comes standard with Bluetooth, WLAN and GPS, as well as a built-in, 2-megapixel autofocus camera that allows video conferencing in the field. Its keyboard and mouse-touchpad are fully sealed, carrying an IP65 rating against sand, dust and water. It passes MIL-STD-810G ruggedness testing, including drop tests from 1.2 metres, and can handle temperatures from -20ºC to 55ºC. The Algiz XRW is ready for Gobi 2000 technology, meaning it is possible to work on any choice of wireless frequency anywhere in the world.
