Hatch launches global HVDC and FACTS centre of excellence

February 8, 2021 | By Anthony Capkun

February 8, 2021 – Nearly three years since its inception, Hatch has officially launched its global centre of excellence for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS).

Headquartered in Winnipeg (and supported by global satellite teams in Africa, Australia, Chile and the United Kingdom), the centre leverages the longstanding HVDC expertise in Manitoba and will build upon the 16,000 MW of HVDC and FACTS services Hatch has delivered internationally to date.

“Our aim is to not only drive large quantities of clean, renewable energy from the point of generation to load centres, but also to shape the electricity grid of the future by using accessible sustainable power,” said Robert Francki, Hatch.

Hatch says the global HVDC transmission market is expected to witness significant growth over the next few years. To that end, Hatch aims to be “the world leader in HVDC and FACTS-related services”.
