HD Electric’s V-Watch warns of high voltage

March 23, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

March 23, 2015 – The V-Watch personal voltage detector from HD Electric Company warns workers of dangerous electric fields surrounding high voltage electrical systems.

With this watch, crews can move in safely to quickly restore power in emergencies, noted the company. It “provides another level of awareness and safety protection for storm restoration workers and first responders” by alerting workers to the proximity of high voltage.

These audible and visual alarms increase in frequency the closer the worker gets to the high voltage source. The typical initial warning distance is about 7 ft from a 4kVAC conductor. The warning distance increases with higher voltages.
