Hydro-Quebec issues RFP for biomass cogeneration in Obedjiwan

November 16, 2016 – Hydro-Quebec Distribution has launched a request for proposals (RFP) for the purchase of electricity produced by residual forest biomass cogeneration to power the off-grid system in the First Nations community of Obedjiwan, located in Quebec’s Maurice region.
The RFP, offering in partnership with the community, involves:
• Pre-bid conference for potential bidders in Quebec: November 30, 2016, 10 am
• Deadline for submitting bids: May 17, 2017, 4 pm
• Bid opening: May 18, 2017
• Announcement of selected project(s): September 19, 2017

In its Strategic Plan 2016–2020, Hydro-Quebec announced its intention to convert its off-grid systems to “more reliable, cleaner, less costly energy sources that reflect the social context of the communities they serve”.
