February 2, 2015 – Hydro-Québec’s president and CEO announced he would be leaving the company as of May 1, 2015 last week.

Thierry Vandal has served in Hydro-Québec’s upper management for more than 18 years, including 10 as president and CEO, said the company.

“Mr. Vandal has made a remarkable contribution to Hydro-Québec’s development and reputation,” said Michael Penner, chairman of Hydro-Québec’s board of directors. “As soon as I joined the board, I was struck by his in-depth knowledge of all the major issues faced by the company and by his undeniable qualities as a leader and an achiever.”

The board of directors said they would be deciding on the process leading up to Vandal’s replacement over the next few weeks.
