Ideal bi-metal hole saws employ M24 high-speed steel

April 22, 2017 | By Anthony Capkun

April 22, 2017 – Ideal Industries (Canada) Corp. says its new line of bi-metal hole saws employs M42 high-speed steel, with an additional 8% of premium cobalt, which promises increased strength and greater wear resistance, making them less prone to chipping.

The inclusion of a rigid, solid steel back plate further enhances strength, eliminates the need for an additional drive plate and minimizes vibration, thereby extending the life of the hole saw and drill battery.

The tooth design enables more uniform pieces of material to be cut per tooth, says Ideal, adding the hole saw is suitable for a range of materials, including stainless steel and sheet metal, as well as aluminum, copper, brass, wood, engineered wood, nail-embedded wood and plastics.

The new line includes 49 individual hole saw sizes, ranging from 9/16-in. to 6-in., compatible arbors, pilot bits and arbor extension, and three kits.
