Ideal Industries Inc., a manufacturer of electrical tools and supplies, has appointed Mike Weiby as product development manager–a new position within the organization, which it described as “reflecting its drive for innovation.” He will report to Jim Davidson, Ideal director of Research & Development.

In his new role, Weiby will work with a cross-functional team to implement a formalized new product development process for Ideal and its subsidiaries. This task includes: project management and tracking, ideation and idea guidance, Intellectual Property (IP) management, research into emerging technologies, and product performance requirements.

Weiby comes to Ideal from Sears Brand Marketing Corporation where he served as Product Development Engineering Manager for the DieHard battery brand and the Craftsman Tools Group. He has also worked with the Bison Gear and Engineering Corp. and ECM Motor Company.

He will be located at Ideal headquarters in Sycamore, Ill.
