IES presidency goes to Cree Canada’s Shirley Coyle

July 5, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

July 5, 2016 – Shirley Coyle has assumed the office of president of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), succeeding Mark Roush.

Coyle is president of Cree Canada and has been Lighting Certified since 2000.

She has been a member of the IES for 31 years and is also a committee member for several CSA Group standards committees on lighting, including Roadway and Solid State Lighting.

“The need for a strong and professional IES has never been greater, given the rapid pace of technological change in lighting systems and ongoing research findings on the non-visual effects of light,” Coyle said. “It’s a privilege to work with my board colleagues and our IES staff to deliver on the recommendations of the comprehensive business review we completed this past year.”
