September 29, 2022 – EBMag has learned* of the passing of Lew Silecky, who passed away at Trillium Health Partners–Credit Valley Hospital on August 7 at the age of 70.

Silecky joined Gould Shawmut (now Mersen) in 1992, dedicating some 30 years to Canada’s electrical industry through his work with Mersen, Electro-Federation Canada, and the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI).

On a personal note, I was very sorry to hear of Lew’s passing. I met him years ago at an IEEE ESTMP Workshop and, since then, have always enjoyed spending time with him in his booth, wherever that might be. I wish the pandemic hadn’t kept us apart for so long, Lew. Rest in peace. – Ed.

A Senior Member of IEEE, Silecky also served as Mersen’s representative to CSA Group, and international codes and standards.
