July 7, 2016 – Even though we’re based near Toronto, Ont. (which is not, I readily admit, the actual centre of the universe), regular readers of Electrical Business Magazine—and especially regular visitors to EBMag.com and @EBMag—know that we cover as many industry events across the country as possible… and a few outside of our borders, too.

In just the past few months, we’ve been to Germany for the massive Light + Building trade fair, San Diego for Lightfair International, Red Deer for Alberta Electrical League’s Learning Expo, the MEET Show in Moncton, Edmonton for the IEEE IAS Mega Projects workshop, Halifax for Electro-Federation Canada’s annual conference… and the list goes on.

We do this to bring you perspective and insight into our electrical industry that will, hopefully, make you better power professionals. Knowledge of new technologies, solutions, business practices, etc., can only help you get better and give you the edge in a competitive market.

And let’s be honest: sometimes it’s nice knowing what’s going on across Canada, if only for the sake of knowing.

But we can’t be everywhere, and that’s where YOU come in. I need YOUR help in continuing to tell the ever-expanding story of Canada’s electrical industry.

Many of you attend/host events we simply cannot get to, so I invite you to send me a report of what you see and experience. It could take the form of a couple hundred words in an email, or a photo gallery, or some video, or any combination thereof.

Maybe you’re tweeting from an event. That’s great! When you do, please hashtag #EBMag, and we’ll see it and pick it up. Or DM us.

Some of you are already publishing news on your own social channels. Take that initiative a step further and put your news and information in front of a bona fide professional electrical audience through Electrical Business, where you will be fully credited as the creator.

Whatever form of report you submit, and whatever the event or newsworthy item, we will review it to ensure it meets our editorial criteria and mandate, then publish it in the best-suited form(s), be that the magazine, website, our YouTube channel, or what have you.

Please join our storytelling community!
