Were the industrial internet to boost annual productivity growth by 1 to 1.5 percentage points in the States (with partial diffusion to the rest of the world, and considering the power of compounding over the next 20 years), it could add $10-15 trillion to global GDP... about the current size of the U.S. economy.

November 20, 2012 - GE announced it will purchase 2000 new Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrids for its fleet. As part of this GE/Ford collaboration, Ford will jointly market GE’s alternative fuel infrastructure solutions to commercial customers and provide new alternative-fuel vehicles for use at GE’s Vehicle Innovation Center.
November 19, 2012 - Cisco remains in the top spot of the enterprise Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) equipment market with 36% of the world market share, according to a recent report by ABI Research. Cisco is followed by ZTE and Aruba based on shipments.
November 15, 2012 - Affiliated Distributors (AD)—a North American wholesale marketing/buying group—announced it has entered into a letter of intent to merge with Canadian electrical buying group, Independent Electrical Distributors (IED). The merger significantly strengthens the market position of electrical independents in Canada and commands 23% of the total market.
November 15, 2012 - The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) recently released a standards roadmap to support the building of Canada’s smart grid. The report is the product of two years of work performed by the Task Force on Smart Grid Technology and Standards: a group of industry and government experts from across Canada under the oversight of Natural Resources Canada and the Canadian National Committee to the International Electrotechnical Commission (CNC/IEC).
(UPDATED November 16, 2012) November 15, 2012 - Combining renewable energy and smart grid technology, Ontario’s Halton Hills Hydro launched an energy project in which individual solar panels will be mounted on about 200 hydro poles in Georgetown, Acton and surrounding communities.

BlueWay.ca is, essentially, Sonepar’s sustainability platform, offering information about its three main areas of expertise: renewable energy, energy efficiency and electrical product recycling. The website also features various energy savings calculators and a guide to energy incentives, rebates and financing across Canada. The goal of BlueWay.ca, says Sonepar, is to foster change by being a reliable resource about electricity consumption and related information for any interested parties.
