June 19, 2013 - EBMag has returned from Milwaukee, Wisc.—home of the Milwaukee Brewers, Pabst Blue Ribbon and of course, Milwaukee Electric Tool. We were pleased to attend the company’s annual New Product Symposium, an exclusive media event to preview and test dozens of new products in the company’s homecity. Our own Alyssa Dalton, EBMag’s associate editor, also demo’d some tools. Can you spot her in our gallery?
EBMag had a great time catching up with familiar faces at Ontario Electrical League’s (OEL’s) annual general meeting earlier this month, hosted by the Kent Country Chapter. The Thursday night Awards Dinner marked an emotional goodbye to Sheila Sage, OEL operations manager, as she nears retirement. See how many board members lined the stage to share a few words!
EBMag was pleased to attend the Ontario Energy Network (OEN)’s annual Spring Networking Event at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ont. What a great way to catch up with old friends and unwind after a long week at the office! (Photos A. Dalton.)
Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) held its annual general meeting in Mississauga, Ont., and EBMag was there as EFC presented its 2013 Industry Recognition Award (IRA) to Douglas Baldwin, a veteran of Canada’s electrical market. Also announced were the new board of directors and Kevin Mallory, vice president and general manager of Hubbell Canada LP, as chair for the 2013-2014 term.
A packed room of Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) Electrical Council members came to hear Electrical Safety Authority’s (ESA) Ted Olechna (director of codes & standards and chief engineer) speak about: inrush current in relation to fluorescent ballast replacement; PV installations (bipolar inverters/voltage rating, colour-coding DC conductors, AFCI requirements); Rule 4-006 and “Conductor Termination Temperature” on equipment; and changes to voltage drop rules.
Part of EBMag’s mission is to help you and your crew get to and from work with the right work truck, which is why we regularly attend NTEA’s Work Truck Show. Here is where the OEMs—and related third-party suppliers and upfitters—come with the latest Class 3-8 vocational vehicle and related equipment offerings.
EBMag was pleased to once again attend the Super Bowl of electrical safety: the IEEE Industry Applications Society’s (IAS) Electrical Safety Workshop (ESW). This Gallery, Part 2 of 2, contains photos from the conference and hospitality suites portions of the event. Meantime, mark your calendars now for the 2014 ESW, being held February 4-7 in San Diego, Calif.
