Intertel receives IECEE certification for certifying CPV modules to IEC 62108

March 6, 2012 – Intertek has been accredited by the IECEE (the Worldwide System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components) to issue IEC Certification Body (CB) reports for Concentrated Photovoltaic (CPV) modules to IEC 62108. Intertek’s Lake Forest, Calif., laboratory has been designated as the Certifying Body Testing Laboratory (CBTL) for IEC 62108.

The expansion of Intertek’s CPV scope to include CB reports for IEC 62108 adds to the company’s existing capabilities for testing to the UL Subject 8703 standard for CPV modules. Now, Intertek can provide CPV manufacturers with a CB certification and test report which can be used to obtain global certifications with IECEE member countries and participating Certification Bodies in addition to North American certification.

According to the company, the CPV market is poised for growth, and industry experts expect that by 2013 the amount of installed MW capacity from CPV technology will grow by approximately 90%.
