Lamp stewardship program coming to P.E.I. in April

February 9, 2015 – Take Back the Light is reminding lamp sellers and importers in Prince Edward Island that they will be required to operate a lamp stewardship program starting April 1, 2015.

The stewardship program means lamp sellers and importers must provide customers with a way to recycle their spent lamps.

They have three options:

• Develop and manage their own stewardship program independently.
• Partner with an experience organization to develop a customized program.
• Join and pay fees into an industry funding organization.

Take Back the Light is one such program that operates on a national level, offering tracked and verified light recycling. There is a modest registration fee and collection services must be arranged.
