Let’s beat the Swiss at their electric vehicle game

April 2, 2014 | By Anthony Capkun

April 2, 2014 – During this year’s Get Connected Day in Quebec, a Guinness Record may be established for the largest gathering of electric vehicles in the world. Organizers invite EV owners from Quebec and elsewhere to a rally April 18 and beat the previous mark registered in 2013 in Zurich, Switzerland (305 EVs). Eligible vehicles include all plug-in models.

Get Connected Day is an initiative of CNTA (National Advanced Transportation Center) and is supported this year by Hydro-Quebec, the Ministry of Natural Resources and other partners. With this event, CNTA aims to offer the public the opportunity to meet with EV owners and experts, and learn about experiences.

EV owners wishing to help beat the record are invited to register at www.branchezvous.org. The rally will take place on the P8 parking of L’Ile Sainte- Helene (La Ronde) from 4 pm April 18 (free access for EVs). Counting begins at 6 pm.

“The electrification of transportation in Quebec is now underway, and this gathering will be an opportunity to demonstrate that it is not a simple fringe movement but a change in perception about transportation in Quebec,” said Jacques Duval, spokesperson for 2014 Get Connected Day.
