November 25, 2010 | By Craig Pearson

Lighting Science Group Corp., a maker of LED-based lighting, has hired John Bono to serve as its VP for strategic accounts. He will play an “integral role in the management of existing strategic accounts”, and the pursuit of new ones. Bono will report to Ted Russ, Lighting Science Group’s chief business development officer.

Prior to joining Lighting Science, Bono worked for eight years at Acuity Brands Lighting, most recently serving VP of utility sales. He was responsible for sales management and utility sales to agencies servicing investor-owned utilities, rural electric co-operatives and municipal electric markets for American Electric Lighting, Dark to Light photocontrols, Holophane, and Remote Operations Asset Management.

Bono currently serves as the vice-chair of the Street and Area Lighting Committee for the Illuminating Engineering Society, and will take the chair’s role in 2011.
