April 6, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

April 6, 2015 – Hydro-Quebec‘s board of directors has appointed Lise Croteau as acting president and CEO, effective May 2, 2015.

Croteau, who currently serves as vice-president of accounting and control at Hydro-Quebec, will “ensure the continuity of business” while the board completes the process of recruiting a new candidate to fill the position of CEO.

Croteau joined the company in 1986 and was awarded the title of Fellow of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec (FCPA) in 2008 in recognition of her contribution to the accounting profession.

“On behalf of Hydro-Quebec’s Board of Directors, I would like to thank Lise Croteau for accepting this mandate, which she will certainly fulfill with great success,” said Michael Penner, chairman of the board, adding that “a rigorous process complying with best governance practices is under way to recruit a new CEO.”

A special human resources committee has been formed to recruit candidates from within and outside the company. The consulting firm Spencer Stuart has been hired to assist in the recruitment, and the committee said its work is progressing well.
