April 26, 2023 – Next week, Canada’s largest skilled trades and technologies competition—the Skills Ontario Competition & Career Exploration Showcase—returns to an in-person event for the first time in four years.

“Inspiring the next generation of skilled trade and technology leaders is crucial to our success as a province,” said Ian Howcroft, CEO, Skills Ontario.

The competition and career exploration showcase are open to the public and free to attend.

The competition will be held at the Toronto Congress Centre, May 1-2, with a closing ceremony on the morning of May 3.

The event features over 76 different skilled trades and technology contests, and elementary workshops. The public can also connect with businesses and organizations in over 60 interactive exhibits to learn and experience skilled trades and technology careers.

The competition and showcase also features Canada’s largest Young Women’s Conference on the mornings of May 1 and 2, and the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Student Conference on May 2.

New this year… the Skilled Trades & Technology Conference for Guidance Educators, and a Francophone conference for young women, both of which take place on May 2.

“Skilled trades and technologies play an imperative role in our lives, and continuing to support these fields—and the professionals working within them—benefits us all,” Howcroft added.

Skills Ontario has been delivering programs and events since 1989 with the goal of inspiring youth to explore skilled trades and technologies.
