Mercury Lighting splits from Mercor

August 19, 2019 | By Peter Saunders

Aug. 19, 2019 – Mercury Lighting, a distributor based in in Vaughan, Ont., is ending its affiliation with the Mercor Lighting Group (current logo pictured) as part of an effort to return to its roots and re-establish itself as a pre-eminent national lighting provider.

The corporate change coincides with a new market focus for the lighting service provider, which represents brands like Hubbell, Leviton, Lutron, Standard and Stanpro and is a member of Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) and Affiliated Distributors (AD).

“Whereas we previously concentrated on property management, energy service companies (ESCOs) and national retailers, we have seen our market expand into two additional verticals—automotive dealerships and lighting controls—by adding relevant technical expertise,” explains Eric Tordjman, Mercury’s owner. “We see the Internet of Things (IoT) and lighting controls permeating all of our current markets and are aiming to be leaders by offering in-house expertise. We know our reinvigorated position will benefit our employees, clients and supplier partners.”

As a consequence, all billings and transactions for the company should now be addressed to Mercury Lighting, rather than Mercor Lighting, and banking has moved from BMO to TD.
