August 9, 2010 | By

Metrel – a European electrical test equipment company – has introduced their new MI-3201 (TeraOhm 5kV Plus) and MI-3202 (GigaOhm 5kV) Insulation Resistance Testers for the North American market. They are 310 x 130 x 250mm in size and weigh 3 kgs or 7 lbs. Some of their features include an integral carry case, rechargeable batteries and battery charger, safety rating of CAT-IV – 600V, guard terminal, and HV test leads rated for 10kV. The MI-3201 also includes a large graphical LCD display for real-time insulation resistance measurement, USB/RS232 communications ports, and a programmable timer from 1s to 30 mins.

Other functions for direct measurements include:
– Test voltage from 250V to 5000V DC
– Insulation resistance to 10 Tera-Ohms or 1,000 Giga-Ohms
– AC/DC Voltage to 600V
– Capacitance to 50.00 F
– Leakage current to 5.5mA
– Frequency from 45 to 60Hz

Other functions for calculated measurements include:
– Dielectric Discharge to 100.0
– Dielectric Absorption Ratio to 100.0
– Polarization Index to 100.0
