October 7, 2016 – When I published my report on Milwaukee Tool’s 2016 New Product Symposium, I suggested you “keep your eyes open for some more exclusive content in October”. Introducing the M18 Force Logic 3-in. underground cable cutter with wireless remote.
Able to cut up to 1500MCM CU 15kV, the 15.75-lb cable cutter pairs with a wireless remote so linemen can distance themselves from the cut and stay safe. During NPS2016, we learned the remote unit works up to about 30-ft away, and provides visual indication when the tool has made the cut.
CHECK OUT the video above, which includes footage from the Milwaukee NPS2016 of this and other new utility tools.
The remote is exclusively paired with the cutter, says Milwaukee, to prevent the potential for other devices to connect to the tool and activate a cut unintentionally. A simple Remote Cut Switch on the tool returns control to the user’s hands.
The tool’s handle and hang hook simplify suspension in vaults and manholes. With the handle on top, users’ wrists are kept in a neutral position for improved posture and decreased muscle effort. Equipped with an M18 RedLithium XC 5.0 battery, it can deliver 140+ cuts per charge.
With a 9-ton hydraulic output force, the cable cutter is compatible with the OneKey digital platform, which allows you to sync the tool wirelessly with your mobile device or desktop.
The tool is expected to launch February 2017. (Gallery photos by A. Capkun)
