October 24, 2016 – Milwaukee Tool is expanding their layout and measurement offering with open-reel and closed-reel long tapes.  

Both 100-ft (48-22-5201) and 300-ft (48-22-5230) open-reel long tapes include reinforced metal handles and a 3:1 planetary metal gear system. Meanwhile, the 100-ft closed-reel long tape (48-22-5101) boasts a metal frame housing to help protect the tool from drops.

Exclusive to these tapes is a proprietary blade manufacturing process that combines a steel blade with extruded nylon coating. This design provides 50% less stretch, the company claims, and provides up to 10x longer blade life. They also feature Grime Guard, a patent-pending blade cleaning system with a wiper that keeps dirt, mud and other contaminants out of the housing and internal components of the long tape as it’s reeled in.

The new measuring wheels will be available next month.
