September 29, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published ANSI C136.36C-2010 “American National Standard for Roadway and Area Lighting Equipment—Steel Roadway and Area Lighting Poles”.

Produced by the ANSI Committee 136 for Roadway and Area Lighting, the
new standard provides construction and performance guidance for steel
poles used in outdoor applications. It includes nomenclature,
dimensional data, performance criteria, and some interchangeability
features, and can help city and roadway planners decide whether to use
steel poles for a given application.

This addition to the ANSI C136 series joins more than 30 other standards
covering a range of topics related to roadway and area lighting,
including filament lamps, vertical tenons and vandal shields.
