December 12, 2013 | By Anthony Capkun

December 12, 2013 – Intertek is unveiling a new internship and scholarship program to undergraduate students pursuing STEM studies (science, technology, engineering and math), which will award five scholarships up to $10,000, paired with an internship at an Intertek office, to be completed in the summer of 2014.

“This scholarship program will give rising stars in the engineering field access to the skills and knowledge they need, while funding their future,” said Cindy Weidmann, regional vice-president, North America Marketing for Intertek. “We also hope to encourage women to follow their dreams and pursue careers in science and technology.”

In creating this new scholarship program, Intertek intends to promote STEM education and to help inspire students to pursue careers in engineering. Additionally, at least one of the five scholarships is specifically being offered to a female candidate, promoting women’s advancement in engineering.

“Intertek is committed to investing in the future of our industry, for both our current employees and potential future employees who are still earning their degrees,” said Darrin Harkness, vice-president of HR, United States and Canada. “In 2012, we welcomed over 3000 new employees to the group through organic growth and acquisitions, so we want to continue to recruit and develop talent to ensure our continued success.”
