New low-emissions standby power nodes from Caterpillar
November 3, 2017 By Ellen Cools

November 3, 2017 — Caterpillar Inc. has five new 50-Hz standby power nodes for the Cat 3516C diesel generator set. Three of these products are low-NOx, 50-Hz power nodes with ratings of 2,250 kVA, 2,500 kVA and 2,750 kVA that have been designed for use in regulated emissions environments and applications. The other two products are 50-Hz nodes with ratings of 3,000 kVA and 3,125 kVA with certification to U.S. EPA Tier 2 emissions regulations.
The five nodes supply reliable backup power from an optimally sized engine, Caterpillar says, and are available with a low- or high-voltage frame alternator that enables quick load acceptance. This feature eliminates the need to oversize the generator set due to motor starting requirements, says the company.
