MTS Allstream says March 31 is the official launch date of its new HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access) wireless network that will deliver cellular voice and high-speed wireless data coverage of up to 21 Mbps to 97% of Manitobans.

MTS is investing more than $100 million in the new HSPA+ network to
provide MTS customers in urban centers and rural areas throughout the
province faster download speeds, access to a new lineup of smartphones
and handsets, and extensive international roaming on compatible GSM and
HSPA networks.

“All of us at MTS are incredibly excited about bringing this next
generation of wireless service to our Manitoba customers, which will
give them faster data speeds as well as access to the best available
national and international roaming,” said Kelvin Shepherd, president of
MTS.

Outside of Manitoba, MTS HSPA+ customers will be able to roam in more than 200 countries around the world.

“When combined with our other services and capabilities, our new HSPA+
network provides MTS with a tremendous competitive advantage over any
other provider in Manitoba,” Shepherd said. “We’ve invested more than
$100 million in HSPA+, which opens the door for a greater variety of
innovative products, services and bundles which will ensure MTS
continues to be Manitoba’s leading provider of residential and business
telecommunications services.”
