August 10, 2016 – From September 9-11, 2016, Ontario owners of renewable energy sites and energy-efficient homes will open their doors to the public for the 5th Annual Green Energy Doors Open initiative, an opportunity to get up close and personal with actual projects and hear about various development experiences.

“We are very excited that we have close to 150 event hosts across the province who will showcase their renewable energy and conservation projects big and small,” says Nicole Risse, executive director with Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA), which spearheads the event. “Our hosts are teaching us that we can power, heat, cool and move ourselves sustainably, while building resilient and prosperous communities and acting responsibly to mitigate climate change.”

This is an opportunity to gather information and ideas for anyone that is interested in exploring renewable energy generation and energy efficiency technologies, OSEA says, as well as meet new people and find out how to become involved in a sustainable energy initiative.

The event is family-friendly and includes community barbecues, site tours and EV test drives, workshops, movie screenings and more. There will also be a bicycle-powered concert by Tune Your Ride.

Green Energy Doors Open is a province-wide, year-round communications campaign and showcase of individual, community and commercial sustainable energy projects. The initiative “aims to showcase advancements in the sector, demonstrating that Ontario is already on the path to building a 100% clean and sustainable energy system.”

Green Energy Doors Open also takes place in Alberta, and British Columbia.
