Safety Codes Council moving to new office

February 2, 2018 | By Ellen Cools

February 2, 2018 — By the end of April 2018, Alberta’s Safety Codes Council (SCC) will have moved to a new location in downtown Edmonton.

The new office will be at Suite 500, 10405 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5J 3N4.

The council says there were a few motivating factors to make the move:

1. Market. The council’s lease on their office space was ending.

“In order to ensure we were getting the most of our office space agreement, we went to market,” says the council. “With current market conditions in our favour we were able to negotiate a bigger floorplan closer to the downtown core in our contract.”

2. Space. Originally, when the SCC moved into their current office with 20 employees, there was enough space. Now, with a team of over 50 employees, the council says they must anticipate a need for more room.

The new space provides access to additional meeting rooms within the building to help the council accommodate their 130+ volunteer sub-council members and the 40+ meetings held per year.

3. Location. The SCC says the new location will allow them to take advantage of a closer proximity to their partners in government, Alberta Municipal Affairs.
