Technical Safety BC’s 2018 awards honour electrical contractors
November 5, 2018 – On Nov. 7, Technical Safety BC will present its 2018 Lieutenant Governor Safety Awards. Two of this year’s recipients are electrical contractors: Canem Systems manager Dale Risvold (pictured) and, as an organization, Western Pacific Enterprises (WPE).
The annual awards program recognizes individuals and organizations across British Columbia for demonstrating exceptional leadership, achievement or innovation in technical safety. Recipients are selected by a committee that includes a member of Technical Safety BC’s senior leadership team.
Risvold is being honoured for promoting electrical installation safety throughout his nearly 40-year career, particularly in terms of sharing his expertise with a younger generation of professionals as they join the industry. He has won in the ‘exceptional contribution to technical safety (contractor)’ category.
WPE, meanwhile, has won in the ‘data and digital technology in technical safety’ category. The company uses collaboration software to record safety statistics for its work sites, then leverages that data to mitigate future incidents. This way, employees across the organization can work together to make safety a top priority.
