July 4, 2013 | By Alyssa Dalton
July 4, 2013 – Nominations are now open for Ontario employers who are training apprentices to work in the skilled trades. The annual Minister’s Awards for Apprenticeship Training recognize employers who support Ontario’s apprenticeship system by demonstrating leadership in training and promoting careers in the skilled trades.
For more information on the awards, or to nominate an employer, visit ontario.ca/apprenticeshipawards.
Nominations are open until July 29, 2013.
“Thanks to many dedicated employers, the number of apprentices learning a trade in Ontario has more than doubled over the past ten years. Training tomorrow’s workforce today ensures we have the qualified people to fill the jobs that will keep our economy growing,” said Brad Duguid, minister of training, colleges and universities.
Last year, Bergeron Electric Ltd. and Fred Hook Ltd. represented the electrical industry as two of four Ontario employers who received the award.
