February 20, 2015 – Thanks to Electro-Federation Canada for letting us know of the passing of Ideal Supply’s John MacDonald on February 14, 2015. He was 83.

John MacDonald was born in Listowel, Ont., to Archie and Helen (Hay) in 1931. He married Colleen in 1954 and, in 1958, joined his father-in-law, Earl H. Forrest, in Ideal Supply in Listowel. He purchased the company in 1968 and, to this day, the electrical and auto parts distributor remains a family-owned business.

John was recognized as Listowel’s Citizen of the Year in 1994 and, in 2005, received EFC’s Industry Recognition Award.

Interment will occur in the spring in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.

Memorial donations to the John and Colleen MacDonald Family Fund (cheques made payable to S.P.C.F. [Stratford Perth Community Foundation]) may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home. A charitable tax receipt will be issued for all gifts received.
