August 8, 2012 – One of Ontario’s newest solar farm is claiming to be the first large scale solar project to come online under the province’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program.

SunEdison Canada‘s SunE Rutley solar farm, located in South Stormont Township, Ont., will produce 10MW of electricity and is expected to power over 1,200 homes each year. During its peak construction period, the solar farm created about 100 jobs.

Solar panels for the project are being produced by Flextronics at its Newmarket, Ont., facility, which created 400 jobs in the process.
