“Our clean electricity is ready to help decarbonize other sectors, including transportation.”
May 25, 2021 – Ontario Power Generation reports the Toronto Transit Commission board recently approved a framework with OPG and Toronto Hydro for the three parties to work together to electrify TTC’s bus fleet, “North America’s largest transit electrification project to-date”.
“With the largest fleet of battery electric buses in North America, we are leading the charge toward full electrification… and this innovative partnership with OPG and Toronto Hydro is one more example of that,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary.
Through a subsidiary, OPG will design, build, operate and maintain the charging infrastructure to power the electric bus fleet.
“Our clean electricity is ready to help decarbonize other sectors, including transportation,” said Ken Hartwick, OPG president & CEO.
“We believe electric vehicles—of all kinds—are the future of transportation,” added Anthony Haines, president & CEO, Toronto Hydro.
