Optelian announces availability of Tunable XFPs

Optelian says its new tunable XFPs feature the narrow spectral width and wavelength stability required for 80-channel DWDM systems. Tunability has two benefits, says the company: it supports dynamic reconfigurability and saves inventory cost. Having these features in an XFP format means that existing muxponder, regenerator and transponder cards can be used in reconfigurable, high-capacity optical networks. Tunable XFPs have comparable performance and reach as fixed DWDM XFPs, Optelian asserts. Optelian’s tunable XFP is fully compatible with all LightGAIN and LightMUX active modules, as well as third-party equipment.
