Optelian, a designer and manufacturer of optical transport systems, has extended its ROADM product line with 4-degree capability to allow network operators to automate provisioning of DWDM mesh and interconnected ring architectures. With Optelian’s ROADM, the company says technicians will not have to go to intermediate nodes in a network to connect jumpers and rebalance optical power levels on DWDM systems. The ROADM system now supports 2-, 3- and 4-degree switching of 40 100GHz-spaced channels. It has real-time optical power level monitoring, automatic power balancing and remote wavelength provisioning.
