North American lighting provider Osram Sylvania has announced new capabilities for the second generation D6 Area Light LED Retrofit Kit, an outdoor area lighting solution.

Designed in two wattages – 35W and 55W – the systems are available in 5600K, 5000K and new 4100K options. The 55W system is available in two light distribution patterns: Street (Type III) with an oblong radiation pattern and Area (Type V) with a circular radiation pattern for areas such as walkways or garages, and the 35W system is available in Type V medium only.    

With both Type III and Type V distributions and 50,000-hour life (L70), the company says the retrofit kit is ideal for converting conventional fixtures using HID lamps to an environmentally preferable technology, and can offer energy and maintenance cost savings, as well as improvements in light quality.

“In addition to reducing energy consumption by up to 68 percent, the second-generation D6 Area Light LED Retrofit Kit, with a small outer diameter of just 6.5 inches, is designed to fit within most existing area lighting fixtures and is suitable for most applications up to a 30-foot mounting height,” reads the company statement.
