December 7, 2016 – Siemens Canada is giving a second life to more than 480 decommissioned computers by donating them to the charity Corporations for Community Connections (CFCC) to be refurbished, then distributed by the Salvation Army throughout the Greater Montreal Area.

This past weekend, Siemens employees and their families—along with charity volunteers—joined workshops to complete the refurbishment. The workshops were led by CFCC, a registered Canadian charity founded by Siemens employees.

“These computers will connect those who receive them to the vital resources necessary to improve their lives, and it’s an honour to help make this impact possible,” said Stéphane Chayer, VP Building Technologies for Siemens Canada, noting the effort also reduces the company’s environmental impact by diverting electronic waste from landfill.

Over the last four years, Siemens Canada says it has partnered with CFCC to donate and refurbish more than 1570 computers, and supported 30 charitable organizations and schools, serving more than 7000 people. More than 350 Siemens Canada employees have volunteered more than 3000 hours participating in the workshops.
