August 29, 2016 – “We are excited about the new centre and the new staff who have been identified to continue the legacy of providing excellent lighting education to industry stakeholders,” said Carol McGlogan, director of marketing for Philips Lighting Canada, as she announced the opening a new Lighting Concept Centre in Markham, Ont., in the fall.

To that end, Ellen Godson has joined Philips Lighting Canada as senior manager of Lighting Education. With 20+ years of experience in the lighting industry, her career has included sales, design and lighting education; during her 13-year tenure with HH Angus in Toronto, Ont., Ellen managed the Lighting Department and served as lead lighting designer for projects in the industrial, commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential and technology fields.

Ellen is an active member of the IES Toronto Section, having served as president and education chair and, presently, board manager and instructor for the Fundamentals and Intermediate Lighting courses. She sits on the IES Standards for Healthcare Committee and CSA Group’s Standards for Illumination Systems in Health Care Facilities Committee.

Also joining the lighting centre’s team is Daniela Garritano as program supervisor, Lighting Education. Daniela has over 10 years of progressive teaching experience at both the post-secondary and corporate levels. She created the curriculum and has been teaching the “Decorating with Light” program at Durham college for the last six years.

“I am excited about the new facility and fresh perspectives our new Philips education team will bring to the lighting community,” added McGlogan.
