PowerON will help Toronto Transit drive electrification

March 17, 2022 | By Anthony Capkun

March 17, 2022 – PowerON Energy Solutions has partnered with the Toronto Transit Commission to design, build, co-invest, and operate the charging and related electrical infrastructure that supports the TTC’s electrification, including its fleet and facilities.

“We know electrification of transportation is crucial to meeting climate change goals,” said PowerON’s James Brewer, “and we have the infrastructure, large project expertise, and supply chain relationships to help fleets make the transition to electric in a way that is reliable and economical.”

PowerON is a subsidiary of Ontario Power Generation, created to support large-scale electrification projects by providing turnkey solutions encompassing all electrical infrastructure. PowerON says it minimizes the risk of fleet electrification by taking on the construction and operation of charging infrastructure.

Planning work for infrastructure installation is currently underway, with construction slated to begin this year.
