September 17, 2019 – The Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI), a North American trade association, has appointed Toronto-based Patrick Vibien its technical director, director of education and power and communications division (PCD) director of engineering.

“Patrick will oversee three distinct areas for our association,” explains Peter Zut, chair of PPI’s board of directors. “As technical director, he will be our spokesperson on technical matters relating to materials, head a technical advisory group (TAG) for ISO TC 138 and liaison with CSA B137 and other organizations focused on plastic pipe systems. As PCD director of engineering, he will manage projects focusing on the use of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conduit in power, telecommunications, fibre, lighting and other applications. And being director of education, he will direct efforts to promote proper installation of plastic pipe applications.”

Vibien joins PPI from Jana, an engineering service company specializing in technical documentation for the plastic pipe industry. As technical director, he succeeds Sara Patterson, who continues to serve as chair of PPI’s hydrostatic stress board (HSB), and in his other two roles, he succeeds Lance MacNevin, who will continue as director of engineering for PPI’s building and construction division (BCD).
