Preparing our Apprentices and Electricians for the Future – EBPowerCon 2021

June 11, 2021 | By Anthony Capkun

June 11, 2021 – Electrified transport, augmented video, jobsite robotics, sustainability, smart cities… the future is truly exciting for both electrical professionals already in the trade, and for our up-and-comers.

Which begs the question… what are we doing to prepare our apprentices and electricians—and tomorrow’s electrical contractors—for this future?

To help answer this question, we are joined in discussion by Susan Boorman, Director of Education & Training at IBEW Local 353; Bob Ritzmann, an electrician by trade, and founder of Alltrade Industrial Contractors; and Graeme Aitken, Executive Director of Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario.

These distinguished guests, representing the perspectives of trainer, electrical con-tractor and employer association, will help us find answers.

The EBPowerCon Cybershow & Expo was launched by the team at Electrical Business Magazine for Canada’s professional electrical community—contractors, engineers, maintenance, and related stakeholders—with the goal of shedding light on trends and technologies so as to empower them with knowledge and insight into markets and opportunities.
