PRODUCT RECALL – Extech Instruments recalls clamp meters and multimeters

 The Electrical Safety Authority is notifying the public that Extech Instruments Corporation is voluntarily recalling its clamp meters and multimeters due to shock hazard. In the case of an extremely weakened battery condition, the affected instruments may display a zero or very low voltage reading while testing a live circuit with unsafe voltage.

Consumers are advised to stop using these products immediately.

The affected model numbers for the clamp meter models are EX612, EX613, EX622, EX623. The model numbers for the multimeter are EX540, EX542 and EX570.

Approximately 1077 units have been sold in Canada between February 1, 2008 and November 8, 2010. The affected products may have been sold by industrial, electrical, HVAC, disaster restoration, and electronic distributors nationwide. Consumers are asked to return all affected products to Extech Instruments’ office at FLIR Systems Canada for free replacement.
