PRODUCT RECALL – Schneider Electric Canada recalls 9001SKRU pushbutton units

March 11, 2011

Schneider Electric Canada has announced a voluntary recall of its Square D brand model 9001SKRU-2, -3, -4 and -5 Multi-Speed Push Button Controller, date codes 1001 through 1041 only, due to possible misoperation. These push buttons may have been sold separately, or as part of a model SKYP pendant control station.

It is possible that insufficient lubrication may cause the pushbutton to not operate as designed. The current-carrying contact carriers may not open the electrical circuit, or may not open or close the electrical circuit in the correct sequence as expected.

Consumers are advised to stop using the products immediately and contact the Schneider Electric Canada Recovery Administration team at 1-866-333-1490 for return instructions and free replacement pushbuttons.

There are 38 push button units in Ontario, and 12 in the remainder of Canada, for a total of 50 units. The products were distributed between January 1-December 31, 2010.
