PRODUCT WARNING – Patton EMT elbows and bends with poor corrosion protection

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is notifying Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), electrical contractors, electricians and retailers that the electrical metallic tubing (EMT) elbows and bends manufactured by Patton International Ltd. (Kolkata, India) identified below may not be adequately protected against corrosion.

These elbows and bends display a stamped-on UL Listing mark for Canada and the United States, but have been found not to comply with the appropriate North American safety standards and, further, are not authorized to bear the UL mark.

Product description: EMT 90º and 45º elbows and bends in the following trade sizes: 1/2 in., 3/4 in., 1 in., 1-1/4 in., 1-1/2 in. and 2 in. They were produced from June 2009 through June 2010.

These EMT products are provided with ink-stamped markings that include the UL Listing mark and the letter P surrounded by a circle (see photo).
