Ariat gets stylish with FR Polartec sweaters

May 4, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

May 4, 2015 – Ariat has partnered with Polartec to provide a new flame-resistant baselayer shirt and hoodie.

The Ariat FR Polartect hoodie is made of Polartec Wind Pro FR fabric, which offers a combination of permanent flame resistance and wind resistance (four times more wind resistant than traditional fleece, according to Ariat). There is also an “extended inseam, improving the range of motion so cuffs don’t ride up and shirt stays tucked in”, Ariat said.

An Arc Thermal Performance Value (ATPV) is a rating assigned to flame-resistant clothing indicating the level of protection provided. The hoodie is ATPV 16 (cal/cm2).

Ariat’s FR Polartec 1/4 zip baselayer is made of Polartec Power Dry FR fabric, also flame resistant. Power Dry fabric stays dry by “drawing 30% more moisture away from the body, and spreading it across the surface for faster evaporation”, the company explained.

The baselayer has an ATPV of 9.5.
