Motors & Motion
September 2, 2016 - A new four-page, full-colour Power Quality line card provides an overview of Schaffner’s active and passive harmonic filters, Sine Wave filters, dV/dT filters, line reactors and more.
September 2, 2016 - Eaton now has an arc-resistant version of its FlashGard motor control centre (MCC) technology that it says is designed to prevent an arc flash event plus protect personnel if an arc flash occurs. Eaton claims it is the first manufacturer to combine arc-preventative and arc-resistant technology within a single motor control centre.
August 8, 2016 - Harting has developed a new connector, the Han ES press, which is based on a cage clamp terminal and enables contact bridging with prefabricated jumpers.
August 3, 2016 - A new sensing solution from ABB for 2016 can reduce downtimes of low-voltage motors by up to 70%, according to the company, and extend their lifetime by up to 30%.
June 20, 2016 - New FN5060 dv/dt filters from Schaffner protect AC motors from the effects of peak voltages and inrush amps, “increasing service life and system reliability”, without capacitors or resistors, Schaffner says.
May 12, 2016 - Carlo Gavazzi’s new RSWT series is the “self-optimizing, soft starting” solution for water pumps up to 75Hp.
May 4, 2016 - ABB has launched its “next generation” QuickSafe surge protection device (SPD), which combines the company’s patented thermal disconnection technology with its new integrated safety backup system to ensure electrical equipment is protected from damage, otherwise caused by surges in the power supply.
April 29, 2016 - By diverting VFD-induced (variable frequency drive) shaft voltages to ground, Aegis says its pro series rings protect large AC and DC motors from bearing damage, repairs, unplanned downtime and lost revenue. Available for motor shafts to 30-in. in diameter, the rings are designed for high-current applications such as generators, turbines, and medium-voltage motors.
February 2, 2016 - Kollmorgen says its new 32kW drive in the AKD platform is one of the “most power dense” on the market, consuming only 576 cm2 of panel space.
January 27, 2016 - Wago has introduced an alternate 1 to 3 jumper solution for “continuous commoning.” The Topjob 2002 series adjacent and alternate endless jumpers are designed, according to Wago, so that the jumper leg contact of two adjacent jumpers can be inserted into one jumper slot.
January 19, 2016 - GE says the RXi-XR Industrial PC (IPC) from its Automation & Controls solutions will help ensure railway control systems “maintain reliable operation” as it provides transportation systems—such as inner-city, monorail and regional trains—with a rugged computer, capable of functioning in the demanding and harsh environments.
January 18, 2016 - Carlo Gavazzi has launched the 2016 edition of its single-phase RGx1P proportional output controllers. With a typical solid-state relay, the output from measuring or monitoring devices is an analogue signal that needs to be converted to a discrete signal to control a “common” solid-state relay. But with RG proportional output controllers, Carlo Gavazzi explains, there is no need for this conversion.
December 10, 2015 - New additions to 787-16XX line expand the functionality of Wago’s electronic circuit breakers (ECBs), the company says. Recently added variants include 48 VDC and 12 VDC models.
November 18, 2015 - Carlo Gavazzi has a new range of compact ultrasonic sensors, available in M18 housings constructed of thermoplastic (UA18CSD Series) and stainless steel (UA18ESD Series).
October 19, 2015 - Eaton says its new Power Xpert C445 intelligent motor management and protection relay has been designed for global heavy industrial and continuous process customers. The Eaton-engineered, electronic overload is designed to help improve energy awareness over traditional control methods, improve operator safety, and support reliable operations through enhanced diagnostics, the company added.
